Greg and Chris have been married for 35 years. Chris is a native Oregonian who was born and raised in Medford, Oregon. Together they have been blessed with eight children and four grandchildren. Their family resides in Cove, Oregon.
In 1982, Greg designed and built the industry’s first all-hydraulic tiller. He sold that first tiller to his employer at the rental yard, who rented it for over 20 years. Looking for an opportunity, Greg and Chris started their own business out of their garage in Keiser in 1983. They officially incorporated their business as Barreto Manufacturing in 1984. From that garage, they grew their business into a corporation with 110,000 square feet of manufacturing facilities, 82 local employees, and an international customer base. Greg and Chris moved their family to La Grande, Oregon, and set up manufacturing operations for all-hydraulic tillers. In Greg's words: "We didn’t have an instruction manual to get started – just a new idea, dreams, sacrifice, hard work, the ability to learn quickly and the freedom to succeed. My wife and I have truly experienced the American dream and want the same opportunity preserved for every American with a dream and the desire to work for it."
Greg is proud to serve and represent District 58 in the state legislature, he believes his business experience will help him promote a bright future for Oregon business. He will continue to support the creation of private sector jobs and long-term tax structures that help business.
