69th OREGON LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY--1997 Regular Session HA to HB 2338 LC 2307/HB 2338-5 HOUSE AMENDMENTS TO HOUSE BILL 2338 By COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION February 20 Delete lines 4 through 7 of the printed bill and insert: ' { + SECTION 1. + } { + (1) Community colleges may recover from a school district in this state the cost of providing remedial courses to a student if the student: ' (a) Received a Certificate of Initial Mastery; ' (b) Received a Certificate of Advanced Mastery or a diploma within two years prior to enrolling at the community college; and ' (c) Attended a school in the school district for three consecutive years prior to enrollment at the community college. ' (2) A community college may recover costs from a school district under subsection (1) of this section only if the community college and the school district have entered into a cooperative agreement to work together to evaluate students. ' (3) As used in this section, 'remedial courses' means courses in mathematics, writing or reading that include instruction on standards that a student should be proficient in if the student has a Certificate of Initial Mastery. + } ' . ----------
