The Capitol History Gateway Interpretive
Experience: Oregonians Making a Difference

On the first floor of the capitol building you’ll find the galleria. Its exhibits tell the stories of ordinary citizens who have improved our state, how they went about it, and how you can too. The exhibits also feature legislation unique to Oregon, and how those laws enhance our unique, Oregon lifestyle.

Capitol Art Collection

The astounding Capitol Art Collection was the first funded by Oregon’s Percent for Art legislation, another of the state’s groundbreaking laws. Obtain a self-guided tour brochure from the Information Kiosk and discover some of these fascinating treasures. . The collection features work by over 150 of Oregon’s finest artists. A catalog containing plates and descriptions is available for purchase.

Photo Opportunities at Your Capitol

Photography for personal use is allowed any time the capitol is open. Flash photography is not allowed in the House and Senate chambers during sessions. When open to the public, these spots are favorites for taking pictures:
