Ferrioli honored for bi-partisan leadership
Salem, OR - Senate Republican Leader Ted Ferrioli (R-John Day) received the Lynn Lundquist Leadership Award at the Oregon Business Association Statesman's Dinner Thursday night. Ferrioli was one of four legislative leaders recognized for their consensus oriented negotiations during the September special session and resulting "Grand Bargain."
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve Oregon during this unique time in its history, and I'm humbled by this recognition," said Ferrioli. "There is nothing we can't accomplish when leaders put aside partisan differences and unite around the common goal of making Oregon a better place to live."
The Lynn Lundquist Leadership award was given to the four legislative leaders who worked long hours and showed great perseverance negotiating a package of bills that will result in long-term increases in school funding, lower PERS costs and tax relief for Oregon's small businesses.
The award is named after former Speaker of the House and OBA founding president Lynn Lundquist, who passed away earlier this year. The award is not an annual award, but reserved for special occasions when unique acts of leadership deserve special recognition.
