ferr1.jpgSenator Ted Ferrioli (R-John Day) is the senior member of the Oregon State Senate and serves as the Senate Republican Caucus Leader. He was first elected in 1996 and is now serving his fifth term of office.

Senator Ferrioli represents Senate District 30, Oregon's largest, encompassing Baker, Grant, Harney, Jefferson, Malheur, Wheeler, and portions of Clackamas, Deschutes, Lake, Marion and Wasco counties totaling more that 36,000 square miles.

Senator Ferrioli was born in Spokane, Washington in 1951, was raised in Portland where he attended Alameda Grade School and graduated with honors from US Grant High School. He attended UO, graduating in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts in English.

Ferrioli has worked as a Veterans Affairs Loan Officer and owned and operated a highly successful public relations firm specializing in natural resource industries. 1994 Ferrioli moved to John Day, Oregon to become Executive Director of Malheur Timber Operators, Inc., from which he retired in 2010.

In 2004, 2008 and 2012, Senator Ferrioli was nominated by both the Democratic and Republican parties and in 2011 was elected with 99% of the votes cast.

In addition to serving as Chair or Vice Chair on dozens of Legislative Committees during his long tenure in the Oregon State Senate, Ferrioli was elected by his peers to serve as Senate President Pro Tempore. Today, he is Vice Chairman of the Senate Rules Committee, Co-Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Implementing Measure 91, and serves on the Legislative Administration Committee and the Legislative Commission on Indian Services. In 2013 Senator Ferrioli was appointed to the Capitol Foundation Board of Directors.

Senator Ferrioli lives in the town of John Day with his wife Mary, and spends his spare time on their ranch near Mt. Vernon, Oregon.
