Nolan Comments on Employment Numbers

Statement From Majority Leader Mary Nolan

“Today’s employment report contains some very positive news for some of the hardest hit by the recession.  More people are working in construction than was expected.  There were larger than expected gains in manufacturing jobs.  Even professional and business sector jobs are growing, and faster than expected.  These signs of life are encouraging.

“Let me be clear: unemployment is still too high.  There are too many Oregonians that can’t find jobs or can’t find jobs that are good enough.  As bottom lines around the state begin to stabilize, there is great opportunity for Oregon businesses to continue hiring more workers and help restore our economy.”
