HOUSE REPUBLICANS COMMENT ON MARCH REVENUE FORECAST

SALEM—House Republicans had the following to say today regarding the March 2013 economic and revenue forecast:

House Republican Leader Mike McLane (R-Powell Butte):

“With this revenue forecast the Legislature can begin to develop the 2013-15 state budget.  Throughout this process, House Republicans will call for a budget that doesn’t raise taxes on Oregonians, along with large budgetary reserves to protect services throughout the biennium.  Further, we will continue to push for real PERS reforms to put more teachers in classrooms."

House Revenue Committee Vice-Chair Vicki Berger (R-Salem):

“The economy is improving, but it’s not bouncing back fast enough for many Oregon families.  Private-sector job creation remains a high priority for our caucus.  During this session, we’ll offer measures to encourage more businesses to expand and hire more Oregonians.  Creating more jobs and growing family incomes will generate more revenue for education, health care and other services for Oregonians.”
