HOUSE REPUBLICANS RESPOND TO FALSE UNION ADVERTISEMENT

ON CO-CHAIRS BUDGET

SALEM—House Republicans today responded to a television commercial, funded by public employee unions, attacking Ways and Means Co-Chair Dennis Richardson (R-Central Point) and Republican legislators over the bipartisan 2011-13 Co-Chairs Budget.

Rep. Richardson had the following to say regarding the attack ad:

“Public employee unions are spending thousands of dollars to confuse the public with a smear campaign over a proposed budget authored by two Democratic Co-Chairs and myself. 

“Rather than having a rational discussion about the budget, and the difficult decisions that must be made, it’s unfortunate that union bosses and lobbyists would resort to such a false attack.

“I am undeterred by this attack, and I will continue to work with Republicans and Democrats towards passing a balanced budget that will meet the needs of Oregon’s most vulnerable citizens.”
