OREGONIANS SEND MESSAGE IN MAY 2011 SPECIAL ELECTION
SALEM— House Republican Leader Kevin Cameron (R-Salem) had the following to say regarding the results of the May 2011 special election:
“Despite the positive unemployment report, yesterday’s special election shows that many Oregonians are still feeling the impact of the economic downturn.
“Last night voters in many areas rejected higher income taxes, higher property taxes and higher vehicle registration fees. Oregonians sent a message that government should live within its means. House Republicans hear this message loud and clear.
We’ll continue our efforts to bring state spending under control, and to set aside sufficient reserves to protect Oregon during these uncertain economic times. We’ll also continue our efforts to create an environment where our private sector can create more jobs.”
