MoneyRates.com has ranked Oregon among the 10 worst states for making a living, while the Wall Street Journal has ranked Portland near the top of its “ Misery Index.” With high unemployment and rising prices, Rep. Matt Wand (R-Troutdale) today rose on the House Floor to say the Legislature can do more to help families during these difficult times. House Republicans have introduced HB 3448 to increase Oregon’s child tax credit and to adjust the state’s income tax brackets to provide relief to low-income Oregonians. In this clip , Rep. Wand says the bill would help Oregon families meet their everyday needs and, according to a 2008 estimate, would create nearly 19,000 jobs.
