Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I have been honored to represent Oregon House District 46 since 2011 .
The ten distinct NE/SE Portland neighborhoods that make up District 46 each have their own history, character and strengths. However, all need more affordable housing, efficient public transportation, and strong state investment in early childhood, public education, job creation, health care and vital human services.
On the Housing Committee, I focus on increasing affordable rental housing and home ownership; preventing homelessness; and providing tenant protections.
On the Human Services Committee, I strive to improve our foster care system, elder care, and safety net for the most vulnerable Oregonians.
On the Health Care Committee, I promote access to cost effective health care, mental health and addictions, maternal and child health, environmental/public health, and closing health disparities… and now am focused on the COVID-19 response.
On the Revenue Committee, I advocate for fair, stable and adequate taxation, including the elimination of wasteful and inequitable tax breaks, to cover our investments in public services and infrastructure.
Recently, I was appointed to the new Joint Committee of Transparent Policing and Use of Force Reform, which aims to develop legislation for the 2020 second special session and the 2021 regular session.
I strive to create a vibrant, sustainable economy that addresses racial, gender and economic disparities while protecting our environment and our climate.
Please sign up for my list serve to learn about proposed legislation and upcoming zoom town halls, and email or call me with your suggestions or questions so we can work toward a better Oregon for everyone.
