Governor Vic Atiyeh Memorial
February 20, 1923 - July 20, 2014
On July 20th, 2014 Oregon lost its 32nd Governor, Vic Atiyeh at the age of 91. Friends and family have been working around the clock to plan his public memorial service at the Oregon State Capitol.
The public memorial is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, and will be held in the Oregon House of Representatives Chamber at the Capitol (900 Court Street, Salem, Oregon 97301). Seating in the House Chamber is limited, so Capitol staff are arranging for overflow seating in the main bank of Capitol hearing rooms. Both video and audio coverage will be available in the overflow areas.
A public reception will follow the service and will be held in the Galleria. It will include a display of materials from the Atiyeh Archive at Pacific University. Light refreshments will be served. On-street parking is available around the Capitol in spaces operated by the City of Salem.
