Out and About
I thought I'd share some special moments over the last few weeks! These are just a few of the many activities I've been involved with throughout the interim as I get ready for the 2016 Legislative Short Session.

The Mid-Valley Health Care Advocates invited Sen. Sara Gelser, Rep. Dan Rayfield and myself to participate in their health care forum. We all had a great time interacting with the 80 plus people in attendance.

The Oregon Association of Nurseries presented me with the "Friend of Nurseries" award during November Legislative Days.

Many of you are aware of the COFA bill mentioned in my last newsletter that I will be introducing during the 2016 Legislative Short Session. During November Legislative Days, Loyd Henion, David Anitok, and I had the opportunity to testify on the upcoming bill. The concept was well received by the House Committee on Health Care.

     Upcoming Events
Although I'll be enjoying the holidays with family, I still have a full calendar of activities throughout the community. Below are some upcoming events you might be interested in attending or knowing about:
  • December 1st, 7am - I will be speaking with the Albany Takena Kiwanis at Elmer's Restaurant
  • December 1st, 7pm - District Attorney Doug Marteeny and I will be speaking at the Tree of Remembrance Ceremony. This is a time to honor and remember those who have been killed and injured from impaired driving and will take place at the Albany City Hall
  • December 2nd, 8:30am - The FBI will be hosting a special Active Shooter Seminar in Corvallis (location TBD)
  • December 3rd, 5pm - I will be speaking at the District Attorney's Conference  in Gleneden Beach
  • December 9th, 6:30pm - Rep. Dan Rayfield and I are hosting a town hall in Corvallis concerning marijuana laws at the Corvallis Library
  • January 13th-15th are the next set of Legislative Days, full of committee hearings, constituent meetings, and preparation for the 2016 February Short Session
  • January 14th, noon - "What Works Forum" at Heritage Center. This is a great event addressing public safety issues
I hope to see you at these upcoming events.

On a Personal Note...
I can't believe it's already Thanksgiving, and soon Christmas will be here. I love this time of year as I get to spend some quality time with my family and reflect on what we're grateful for.

Recently, I visited with my newest granddaughter, Gracen, who was delivered at 28 weeks and weighed exactly one pound. Gracen now weighs one pound 12 ounces, and is doing much better than doctors ever predicted. We are extremely thankful for Gracen's progress. Everyday is a battle for this little girl, but she remains sweet as ever. We've nicknamed her Spunky.

This is a growing time for all my family. I appreciate all the prayers and continued support. I'm lucky to have such a wonderful constituency in Albany. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and travel safe.

Sincerely,

Andy Olson
