2021 Legislative Session Highlights

This year Oregon faced unprecedented challenges. During the 2021 Legislative Session, we responded by passing record funding for schools, so our education system works for every child. We created pathways to stable housing, a critical need here in Central Oregon. And we took action to combat climate change and address wildfire resiliency. Locally, we were able to secure funding for:

  • $4.5M for a navigation center and a year-round shelter in Bend.
  • $13.8M to construct a Student Success Center at OSU-Cascades to improve academic outcomes and support job creation and economic development in Central Oregon.
  • Two new Deschutes County judges for the first time in 18 years which will greatly improve access to justice in our growing community.

I'm proud of what we accomplished this session and am committed to the work that remains. It is an honor to serve our community.
