The Legislative Policy and Research Office’s (LPRO’s) Language Access Team supports Oregonians in engaging with lawmakers by providing American Sign Language and spoken language interpretation, translation, and live captioning services.​ Stay on this page for information about services the Language Access Team provides or learn about the history of the Language Access Team.

To request spoken language interpretation, translation of a legislative document, American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, or Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) services, please email languageaccess@oregonlegislature.gov or call 503-986-1538. 

LPRO will use its best efforts to provide requested services within three business days' notice of the date the request is made, but more time may be required to arrange for specific requests to be fulfilled. Upon request, we offer:
  • Spoken language interpretation or ASL interpretation to support testimony in a committee hearing or to meet with a legislator
  • ​​​​Translation of a legislative document, such as written testimony or a summary of a bill or amendment
  • CART services, live captioning of a committee hearing

Language Access Services: Interpretation, Translation, Closed Captioning, CART (Communication Across Realtime Translation)

  • Please request interpretation/translation services at least three days before the meeting; contact languageaccess@oregonlegislature.gov or 503-986-1538.
  • For English to Spanish interpretation at the State Capitol, use the Listen EVERYWHERE app (iOS/Android) or get a hearing device at the Capitol Information Desk.
  • For an ASL-accessible meeting link, contact languageaccess@oregonlegislature.gov or 503-986-1538.​
