Representative Thuy Tran is serving her second term representing Oregon’s House District 45–which includes parts of Northeast and Southeast Portland, Maywood Park, Parkrose, Argay Terrace, Montavilla, and Cully.
Having grown up in a low-income, immigrant household, Rep. Tran understands the critical need for supportive policies—particularly for families living on modest incomes or learning English as a second language.
Rep. Tran engages the community in a multitude of roles. After earning a B.S. in Biology from UCLA, a Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University, and an MBA from George Fox University, she has owned and operated Rose City Vision since 1995, providing eye care to neighbors in Northeast Portland. She is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the Oregon Air National Guard, and a former Parkrose School Board member.
The challenges Rep.Tran has overcome and successes she has worked hard for inform her commitment to equity and opportunity. Throughout her career, Rep. Tran has championed healthcare access, strengthening public education, and supporting working families—particularly those in immigrant and BIPOC communities.
In the 2025 legislative session, Rep. Tran chairs the House Committee On Emergency Management, General Government, and Veterans, and serves on the House Committee on Judiciary, the House Committee on Conduct, the Joint Committee on the Interstate 5 Bridge, and the Joint Ways and Means Subcommittee on General Government. Additionally, Rep. Tran co-chairs the House Veterans Caucus. Her tireless work is to ensure that veterans, families, and all Oregonians have access to the resources and support they need.
In Rep.Tran’s free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her three adult children and going mountaineering across Oregon’s natural landscapes.
