Representative Mannix is a practicing business law attorney in Salem and owns the Mannix Law Firm which he established in 1986 representing individuals, non-profits, and businesses. He has served in a broad variety of elected positions in his life including law clerk to the Oregon Court of Appeals, Assistant Attorney General for Oregon, Assistant Attorney General for the U. S. Territory of Guam, and an Administrative Law Judge for Oregon.
Growing up with a father in the Foreign Services Kevin Mannix spent the majoirty of his childhood in Latin America living in Ecuador, Bolivia, and Panama. When he first arrived in Quito, Ecuador, at the age of five, he was placed in first grade at a Catholic school, with all classes in Spanish. Until grade four, Kevin experienced total immersion in education in Spanish. Through this experience he developed a great sense of Latin American culture and conversational fluency in Spanish.
Him and his wife Susanna were married in June 1974, just after Susanna received her BS in nursing and Representative Mannix received his law degree. Both being children who grew up abroad, they did not have a true home state so, they studied up on the 50 states and adopted Oregon as their home. They honeymooned to Oregon right after their marriage; and have lived in Salem since. Together they have three children and six grandchildren. While not serving in the legislature Representative Mannix remains in practice at his law firm and Susanna still works as a nurse at Salem Hospital.
Representative Mannix is also the President of Willamette Intermodal Group, and the managing member of Oregon Independence Railroad. He is also the director of the Oregon Shipping Group which supports transportation throughout Oregon.
