COVID-19 Ways to Help

There are many opportunites to give back to the community during this public health emergency. Here are some:

• United Way of Lane County keeps an updated list of organizations looking for volunteers to aid the COVID-19 response. There are opportunities at food banks and pantries, blood banks, night shelters and more.
• Greet and screen visitors at Serenity Lane, a non-profit treatment center for alcoholism and drug abuse in Coburg. Accepted volunteers will be trained and given personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Make cloth face coverings to give away to friends, family or neighbors.
• Share the Stay Home, Save Lives message and other important prevention and response information on social media.
• Donate plasma: If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and recovered, you can donate plasma, which will be distributed to COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms because the antibodies in plasma may help them recover. To be eligible for the program, you must be at least 17 years old and weigh 110 lbs., be in good health (you generally feel well, even if you're being treated for a chronic condition), and have a prior, verified diagnosis of COVID-19, but are now symptom free and fully recovered. For interested clinicians or hospital reps, go here.
• If you’re a family physician with the capacity to accept new patients, OHSU is looking for providers to add to their COVID-19 hotline. Interested providers can fill out this form.
