Because of the ongoing federal government shutdown, many Oregonians may not receive their November SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits on time or in full.
If Congress does not approve funding before midnight on October 31, the State of Oregon will not have access to the federal funds needed to distribute SNAP benefits. Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) is notifying approximately 757,000 Oregonians (roughly one in six residents) who receive food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that they will not receive new benefits after October 31 because of the federal shutdown.
This situation is not caused by the State of Oregon. SNAP is a federally funded program, and without congressional action, those funds cannot be released to the state. The Trump Administration continues to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), sending a clear message that the Administration is prioritizing separating and terrorizing families ahead of putting food on tables for Oregonians.

What is a food pantry?
A food pantry is a location where families can get FREE groceries, NOT grab-and-go meals.
Available groceries are subject to change weekly.
Families can walk or drive to any of the school food pantries available.
Due to increased need, the food pantries may run out of food before the end of the food distribution time.
HOWEVER, families can visit any food pantry available within our district or outside the district.
For a list of food pantries and other programs available, you can visit Oregon Food Bank.
Food pantries are coordinated through community partner agencies, Oregon Food Bank, and Urban Gleaners.
