Thank you for visiting my legislative web page. I hope you find this page informative and helpful. I am honored to serve as the state senator representing District 4, which spans Southern and Eastern Lane County as well as Northern and Eastern Douglas County. The district encompasses a diverse and vibrant mix of urban, rural and campus locales from Eugene to Sutherlin, Elkton to Oakridge. Other communities in District 4 include Blue River, Cottage Grove, Drain, Elmira, Glide, Lowell, McKenzie Bridge, Oakland, Pleasant Hill, Veneta, Vida, Westfir, Winchester, and Yoncalla. (Click here for a full district map.) I strive to represent interests of the entire district and encourage you to contact me with your thoughts and concerns regarding state government. Please feel free to let me or my staff know how we can assist you.
Please visit my News & Information page to view my monthly district E-Newsletters. You can sign up to receive them using e-Subscribe (top right of this page).
I currently serve on four committees: the Senate Judiciary Committee (which I chair), the Joint Committee on Marijuana Legalization (on which I serve as vice-chair), the Senate Environment & Natural Resources Committee, and the Legislative Counsel Committee. In addition, I co-chair both the Task Force on Public Safety and the Justice Reinvestment Grant Review Committee. Finally, I continue to serve on the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission (CJC), the Oregon Law Commission, the Asset Forfeiture Oversight Advisory Committee, the Task Force on Legal Representation in Childhood Dependency, and the Oregon State Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision.
As your State Senator, I am able to help you address concerns and disputes with state agencies. If you are not a resident of District 4, I will forward your concerns to your own State Senator. If your problem involves the federal government, such as Social Security, Medicare or veterans’ benefits, please contact Congressman Peter DeFazio, Senator Jeff Merkley or Senator Ron Wyden. But always feel free to start with me if you need to be directed to the right place.
