API Resources​

We provide this list with the intention to support our Asian ​and Pacific Islander communities through connections to a variety of resources, as well as community-specific information and support systems.

General Organizations​
  • ​The Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon (APANO) unites Asians and Pacific Islanders to build power, develop leaders, and advance equity through organizing, advocacy, community development, and cultural work. Visit their Our Work​ page for specific programming and resources.​​
  • The Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) works to meet the needs of Oregon's immigrants, refugees, and mainstream community members by providing culturally and linguistically specific social services. 
  • The Asian Health & Service Center​ (AHSC) aims to reduce health inequity and improve healthcare quality for the Asian community through linguistically and culturally specific services. They offer insurance assistance, health education, mental health programming, and much more.​​
  • The Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce of Oregon and SW Washington (APACC) is dedicated to promoting regional economic growth among Asian & Pacific Islander businesses while advancing business-friendly advocacy, public policies, and servicing the community through workshops, programs, benefits, and services.​
  • The Asian Pacific Islander Community Coalition of Oregon (APICCO) is a nonprofit empowering API youth by developing their leadership potential through mentorship, trainings, and hands-on advocacy experience (including internships in the Capitol)!​
  • API Forward​ promotes civic engagement and leadership development for API students and young professionals.​​​


Community-Specific Organizations
​Asian Organizations
  • ​The Oregon Chinese Coalition (OCC) works to preserve Chinese culture and heritage, and provides culturally specific community resources (largely targeted towards seniors).
  • The Chinese American Citizens Alliance (CACA) Portland Lodge is a nonprofit serving the local Chinese community. They offer cultural programming, scholarships, youth development, and more.​​
  • The Korean Society of Oregon (KSO) serves the local Korean community with cultural programming, relevant news, and educational resources.
  • The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) celebrates Japanese American culture and uses lessons from their unique American experience to promote and protect human and civil rights for all. Their Portland chapter offers regular cultural programming, scholarships, exchange programs, and more.​
  • The Filipino Bayanihan Center​ aims to provide basic resources and a community gathering place accessible for Filipino workers, new migrants, and Filipinos in the diaspora seeking community, empowerment, and connection. Visit their Programs page for more information on available resources.
  • The Vietnamese Community of Oregon (VNCO) is committed to providing culturally and linguistically relevant resources to Oregon’s Vietnamese community — including (but not limited to) cultural events and translated news.
  • The Hmong American Community of Oregon (HACO) is a regional nonprofit aiming to empower and support the Hmong community through education, advocacy, and civic engagement.​
  • The Nepali Association of Oregon (NAO) strives to promote and preserve Nepali cultural heritage, as well as improve the collective welfare of the Nepali community. They offer cultural programming, resettlement support, and more.
  • The Greater Portland Telugu Association​ (GPTA) is a community-based organization dedicated to preserving, protecting and propagating Telugu culture through educational and cultural programming.
  • Prabashi​ is a local nonprofit hosting cultural events and cultivating community for Bengalis in the greater Portland area.

  • Lines for Life's Racial Equity Support Line offers support to those who are feeling the emotional impacts of racist violence and microaggressions, as well as the emotional impact of immigration struggles and other cross-cultural issues.
